Hurleyville
Village to dedicate Firemen's Park

The Hurleyville-Sullivan First group will dedicate its 2005 Sullivan Renaissance Project, the Hurleyville Firemen's Park, at 3 p.m. Saturday.
Francis S. Currey, Congressional Medal of Honor recipient, will join community residents, the Hurleyville Board of Fire Commissioners, the Hurleyville Fire Department, the Hurleyville Fire Department Ladies' Auxiliary and Sullivan Renaissance Steering Committee chairwoman Sandra Gerry in the ceremony at his childhood home.
Invited guests include state Sen. John Bonacic, Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther, the Fallsburg Town Board, the Catskill Art Society, the Sullivan County Museum and the Sullivan County Historical Society. Hurleyville resident David Samuel Bloch will provide entertainment.
The Hurleyville Firemen's Park is being built in front of the basketball court on Main Street. A reproduction of a turn-of-the-century kiosk is being built and will be part of the park. The kiosk will hold a display of the history of Hurleyville and a community calendar.
